The Role The Safety, Health and Environment Unit are seeking to appoint a full time Occupational Health and Well-being Manager on an ongoing basis. The University of Kent is committed to the safety, health and well-being of its entire staff (of which there are 2,700) and students, although this post deals primarily with staff and has very limited dealings with students. The University considers Occupational Health to be a very important service in its management of health and well-being and the senior level of this post is a reflection of that. The main purpose of this job is to oversee implementation of the Health and Well-being Strategy and to take a lead role in its future development. The following Key Accountabilities and Primary Responsibilities are the main day to day requirements of the post and they all form part of the successful implementation of the Strategy. The Person You will hold a post registration qualification in occupational health nursing at degree level or equivalent and be recorded as a specialist practitioner with the Nursing and Midwifery Council. The role holder will need to have extensive experience as a Occupational Health Professional in an environment offering a broad range of occupational health issues as well having experience of developing and implementing policies and procedures. An ability to lead and contribute to the ongoing development of the University's strategy for Staff Health and Well-being is also an essential requirement for this position. The Department The Unit consists of five safety, health and environmental professionals, including the Director, who are supported by three administrative support staff. As part of this Unit there is an Occupational Health team of two Nurse Advisers, one of which works part time and a contracted Occupational Health Physician who usually visits for two days per month. This team is supported by a specially trained (shared) administrator.
