Job Description: 

Are you looking for an opportunity to be part of a first class occupational health team?  Are you up for the challenge of helping PepsiCo deliver a ground breaking UK health and wellness strategy?  If so, look no further.  Our busy Skelmersdale manufacturing site is looking to recruit an Occupational Health Advisor to join our team.

Reporting to our UK Health & Wellness Manager, you will assist with the day-to-day running of our occupational health department.  You should be passionate about your profession, able to make and stand-up for your decisions and influence at all levels.

Job Description:

  • Support the health and wellness of c700 permanent employees across our Skelmersdale and Warrington 24/7 sites.
  • Work as part of our established onsite Occupational Health Facility, in a department of other OHA’S, admin staff and physiotherapists.
  • To assist in the provision of Occupational Health screen and surveillance programmes in accordance with current Occupation Health policy. E.g. vision screening, lung function, testing, audiometric testing and other appropriate testing.
  • Adhere to the NMC Code of Conduct and adhere to the company policies and procedures.
  • To participate in health promotion and education programmes.
  • To undertake workplace visits.
  • To ensure contemporaneous record keeping at all times and in line with professional guidelines and company policy.
  • To maintain up to date and comprehensive records, observing confidentially of the clients information at all times in accordance with the Data Protection Act and Access to Health Records.
  • To be aware of current research and the possible implications to practice in the delivery of occupational health at PepsiCo.
  • To oversee that clinical stocks and supplies are ordered, with an understanding of how to process and to receive orders.
  • To anticipate day to day staffing problems and take appropriate action in the conjunction with the Health and Wellness Manager to ensure standards of service are maintained at all times.
  • To keep the Health and Wellness Manager informed of significant changes in the day to day running of the department.
  • Observe a general duty of care for the health, safety and well-being of self, work colleagues, visitors and clients within the occupational health department, in addition to any specific risk management associated with this job role.
  • To demonstrate an insight into own professional development, contributing to the process of identifying own education and clinical needs in conjunction the Health and Wellness Manager.
  • Participate in own individual performance review. The OHA will be expected to participate/ undertake training/ education development and maintain a competent level of practice.
  • Ensure own educational commitment is sufficient to maintain PREP requirements.
  • To work within and accept responsibility for maintaining agreed levels of clinical competence and ensure clinical competency as new technologies are introduced.
  • Work closely with HR and line managers to case manage health cases.
  • Deliver a proactive approach to absence management and plan and advice on individual rehabilitation plans and return to work plans.
  • Advise on workplace health & safety risks and conduct ergonomic risk assessment.
  • Direct involvement in operational changes to advise on health risks and anticipate issues.
  • Raise general health awareness at site. Includes the delivery of continuous health promotions at site and training front line employees and managers in the role of occupational health through induction.
  • Translate Occupational Health data into effective, efficient, preventative health plans.
  • Support the site first aid team.
  • Work with the Health & Wellness Manager and other OH Advisors across the business to develop the Occupational Health strategy and best practice at Group level.
  • Manage local budget requirements.
  • Manage local contractor relationships on a day to day level (OH Consultant, Physio and Chiropody services).

Job Requirements

  • Occupational Health Diploma.
  • Experience of team work and effective management of workload in a clinical setting.
  • First Aid certificate.
  • Extensive Occupational Health experience preferably in the manufacturing sector.
  • Effective interpersonal skills with the ability to communicate and influence at all levels from Front Line Employees to the Site Leader.
  • Ability to analyse and interpret data.
  • Ability to use initiative and prioritise workload.
  • Proactive Outlook.
  • Good PC Skills.
  • Flexibility as travel to other sites may be required.
